About Cost Ledger

Cost Ledger answers one question: what does this cost, and who says so. Each cost guide gives a national range, a table by option, and the source and date of every figure. Each calculator shows its formula and where the formula comes from.

How the prices are chosen

A figure appears on the site only when it comes from a source we can link: a professional association, a government statistic, a manufacturer's data sheet, or a published price survey with its method and date. When sources disagree, the page shows them side by side rather than averaging them. When a figure has no source, it is not published.

National figures are not quotes. Your price depends on your area, the size of the job and the professional you choose. The guides say what to ask so that the quotes you receive compare like for like.

What the site earns from

The site shows advertising. It does not sell your details. If one day a page offers to pass your request to a local professional, the page will say so plainly, with the number of professionals who receive it.
